Road Warriors 14

After releasing their long-anticipated sophomore effort, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, Maroon 5 will play six intimate dates….meaning, in smaller venues. Fan club members will have first crack at buying tickets, and the remainder will go on sale tomorrow. Here are the dates:

May 30th – Axis – Boston, Massachusetts
June 1st – Great American Music Hall – San Francisco, California
June 2nd – Troubadour – Los Angeles, California
June 7th – Fine Line – Minneapolis, Minnesota
June 9th – Studio A – Miami, Florida
June 11th – Bowery Ballroom – New York, New York (This show is 16 and over)

Since Scottish rockers The View have had numerous immigration problems, and have had to cancel their last two trips to the States, they are playing at one of the UK’s biggest festivals and inviting their American fans to come see them. The show will be part of the T In The Park festival July 6-8 along with Snow Patrol, The Arcade Fire and The Killers. Columbia Records is giving one lucky fan the trip of a lifetime to see The View at the fest.

“Good Morning America” has announced its summer concert series, beginning May 18 with country powerhouse band Rascal Flatts. Other acts will be Fergie, Daughtry, Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus, Norah Jones and John Mayer. Shows will be at New York’s Bryant Park and will air live on the TV show.

Virginia Tech Benefit May 18 in NYC

In the wake of the April 16, 2007 tragedy on the campus of Virginia Tech, the Manhattan Hokies (NYC VT Alums), Webster Hall, The Village Pourhouse and Disco Sushi Entertainment have joined The David Wright Foundation to present Maroon Effect, a night to remember and honor the victims of that tragic day.

On Friday, May 18th, 2007 renowned New York City venue Webster Hall will host the event from 9pm-midnight, which will feature national musical acts, celebrity appearances, a VT merchandise store and an auction. Confirmed acts are The Season and Pat McGee. Webster Hall has graciously donated use of their venue at no cost.

100% of the funds raised at MaroonEffect.org will be donated to aid the healing process of those impacted by the tragedy and to honor the lives of those that were lost. The Manhattan Hokies created the Eternal Hokies Scholarship Fund, which will provide financial assistance to incoming Virginia Tech students from the Tri-State area.

Additionally, a donation to the Virginia Tech Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund, which is run by Virginia Tech, will be made in the name of Manhattan Hokies and all who contributed. Proceeds will be used to cover expenses including but not limited to: assistance to victims and their families, grief counseling, memorials, communication expenses and comfort expenses.

While there is still no official word on when Guns N’ Roses will release their Chinese Democracy album, there is word that some of the band’s tour dates overseas have been postponed. Bassist Tommy Stinson has a wrist injury that has forced the band to pull out of shows in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Japan that were to begin tonight.

The original members of the legendary Spinal Tap are reuniting for the Live Earth show at London’s Wembley Arena on July 7. The band even has a new single called “Warmer Than Hell,” to fit the global warming theme of the event.

With an appearance on “Dancing With The Stars” scheduled for May 1 and other numerous national TV gigs in the coming weeks, Meat Loaf is already in promotion mode for his upcoming “Three Bats” tour that kicks off July 18 in New York City’s MSG Theatre. Here are Continue reading »

Road Warriors 11

It’s been four years since Linkin Park’s last album, and on May 15 the band will be releasing the follow-up, Minutes To Midnight. The band will also be headlining the Projekt Revolution Tour this summer, which is expected to begin in late July and run through around Labor Day. More details about dates and bands on the bill will be announced soon.

British songstress Lily Allen has blown up as fast as anyone in recent memory, and she has continued to write music while on tour in the U.S. In fact, she’s itching to head back into the studio before the ideas dry up, causing her to shuffle some of her tour dates here. The adjusted dates are as follows:

5/13 – Seattle, WA @ Everett Events Center (KBKS’s “106.1 Girls Night Out”)
5/15 – Los Angeles, CA @ The Wiltern

6/15 – Manchester, TN @ Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival

Country mega-stars Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood are all slated to perform at this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas on May 15. Each of them is nominated for awards in various categories. If there is an award for showing the most leg, Underwood will win it, hands down.

Another former American Idol finalist, Elliott Yamin, is hitting the road in support of his self-titled debut album, a 25-city tour that kicks off May 15 in Atlanta and runs through June 19 in Tucson.
