Coldplay’s long-awaited fourth album is due for release in 2008, and while no details have been released about a tour, the band has just announced that there will definitely be one. Keep up with progress on the band’s website

Since the release of their debut album in June of 2007, SoCal rock band Revolution Mother have been tearing up the road. Now, they have just announced a tour beginning in January along with Tiger Army and Dear and Departed. Here is the confirmed itinerary:

Well, we know there won’t be a wardrobe malfunction during the halftime performance for Super Bowl 42. Well, at least we hope not. Legendary American rock band Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers will be playing the event, which takes place February 3 in Phoenix.

While we’re on the subject of big events, Plain White T’s have been announced as a performer at Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve show on December 31. The band will also be performing in Boston on January 14 before heading to the UK for some tour dates.

Florida rock band Yellowcard had to cancel some tour dates in Europe due to band member Longineu W. Parson’s grandmother’s illness. Parsons is very close to his ailing grandma, who raised him. Tickets are fully refundable but the shows are expected to be rescheduled.

Rockers Three Days Grace are hitting the road for a US tour beginning February 15 in Lowell, Massachusetts. Joining them on the tour will be Breaking Benjamin and Seether, and more info is available at www.threedaysgrace.com

Another New Year’s Eve show just announced is Velvet Revolver, who will be performing at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. The band is also headlining the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles on December 12 with Alice in Chains, and in February will head to Australia for more shows. A so-called summit of music festival minds has gotten together and will be bringing a new event to the U.S. this summer. The people behind Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits have teamed up with British officials behind the Reading, Leeds and Glastonbury Festivals to head up a new festival called Vineland Music Festival. The event will take place August 8-10 in Vineland, New Jersey, but no acts have been announced yet.

Pop artist Kylie Minogue has apparently put her health problems behind her, and will head out on tour beginning in May 2008 in support of her tenth and latest album, X. The album has been released in the UK, but will not be available in the States until early 2008.

Mr. Prolific, otherwise known as Ryan Adams, has announced West Coast tour dates along with his band The Cardinals, in support of their new EP, Follow The Lights. In its 50 years of existence, Los Angeles venue The Troubadour has helped launch the careers of artists such as The Eagles, Jackson Browne and Elton John. Two other artists that first performed there in 1969 are Carole King and James Taylor, who will be celebrating the 50-year anniversary of the club with three shows there, November 28-30. The two performances each night will benefit various charities including National Resources Defense and MusiCares.

Not surprisingly in a year that they toured for the first time in decades, The Police were big winners at the fourth annual Billboard Touring Awards last week. The band took home the awards for Top Tour and Top Draw. Other winners included Kenny Chesney, Justin Timberlake, Prince and Larry the Cable Guy.

Velvet Revolver’s four-day tour in Japan, which was scheduled for November 26-30, was cancelled because of visa issues stemming from previous arrests of some of the band’s members. The band is appealing but will likely not have a ruling for several months.

Carrie Underwood will join Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts and others on the 2008 Stagecoach country music festival. The event is being held May 3-4 at California’s Empire Polo Field.

Indie rock band The A.K.A.s are releasing their new album in March 2008, but will be hitting the road in advance of that along with Hawthorne Heights, Escape The Fate, Amber Pacific and The Secret Handshake beginning this Friday in Detroit. Here are the complete confirmed Continue reading »

John Mellencamp is vowing to make his current tour more about the songs and songwriting than about doing rousing choruses of certain songs. What? Does that mean he’s going to take that horrible “This is Our Country” song out of his set, or at least play a short version of it? How about just a verse and a chorus?

UK Brit Pop band Polytechnics are unsigned but have quite the buzz going, and this month will showcase for labels in both New York and Los Angeles. Here are the dates where you can check them out:

Matchbox Twenty has just announced tour dates and their schedule is posted on the band’s MySpace page at www.myspace.com/matchboxtwenty.

Former Tonic lead singer Emerson Hart is on tour and playing acoustic sets with a stripped down three-piece band. According to Hart, this helps him relate to his own music, and offers a better concert experience for his fans.
