DMed’s Video of the Week: Kenna, “Say Goodbye to Love”

Universal are big stinky monkeys for disabling the embed on this one, so I’ll just have to link to it like a sucker.

Kenna – Say Goodbye to Love

Fewer artists have been kicked around like Kenna has. It’s taken him seven years to release two albums. His first album, New Sacred Cow, hopped labels three times before it was finally released, and once it hit the public…that label completely buried it. Bastards. (That would be Sony, if you were curious) This is made all the more astounding when you take into consideration that Kenna went to high school with the freaking Neptunes, who produced both of his albums. How can you not sell that? Don’t know, but Sony found a way.

Now free from Sony and starting a new life on Interscope, Kenna’s new single doesn’t have a video as memorable as “Freetime,” but at this point, I’m just happy that he’s making music at all.

DMed’s Video of the Week: Dave Gahan, “Kingdom”

I’m sure I was not the only one underwhelmed by Paper Monsters, Dave Gahan’s 2003 solo debut, but as a lifelong Depeche Mode apologist, I will always give them and their assorted side projects a chance. And I’m glad for that, because there is a strong Songs of Faith and Devotion vibe to Gahan’s new single, “Kingdom.” I could not help but think of the Christmas lights synched up to Transiberian Orchestra during the middle part of the video, but maybe that’s just me.

It’s Halo 3 day, kiddies

For those of you living under your rocks, yes, today is Halo 3 day worldwide. The launch of the final chapter in Bungie’s mega-selling video game franchise is now upon us after much waiting, anticipation, and record breaking preorders. Yours truly’s copy is headed to his abode right now in the back of a UPS truck. So that means I’m taking the rest of the day off. In the meantime, you enjoy this lovely music video montage, the “Halo 3 Hoedown” and get in the know about how gigantic this game actually is.
