K-Fed’s career already K-Dead?

According to a blurb on IMDB.com,
two of aspiring rapper Kevin Federline’s live performances have been cancelled.

Mr. Spears was planning to launch his new CD, Playing With Fire, with five guest appearances around the US, but lackluster ticket sales have already caused two and possibly three shows to be cancelled. His November 9 gig at House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio has already been scrapped, so no road trip for the Medskers. The crazy thing is, tickets were only about 20 bucks! Even crazier is that the other cancellation, at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, were only about 15 bucks!

Actually, I’m just being polite. Accepting fifteen bucks for a ticket, let alone paying it, couldn’t get me to a K-Fed show.

This Christmas, they’re giving you their heart…

…but it’s pretty likely that, on the very next day, they’ll take it away. Even so, many fans of ’80s British pop are giddy at the news that Wham! are set to reunite this Christmas, according to The Advocate.

No, I said THIS Christmas.

George Michael and Andrew Ridgley will perform as Wham! for a special concert this Christmas as part of Michael’s solo world tour. “George is thrilled that Andrew’s agreed to perform,” a source told Britain’s Sunday Mirror. “It was something George had thought about for a long time. He couldn’t be happier and can’t wait for the gig.” (Michael often squashed rumors of a potential reunion in the past due to Ridgley’s refusal to participate.) Michael and Ridgley have not performed together since Wham! staged its final concert at London’s Wembley Stadium in 1986.

I think the most surprising thing about this story is that Ridgley hasn’t been chomping at the bit for a reunion. If he’s getting back into music, fingers crossed that we’ll finally see that belated follow-up to Son of Albert

I’m not totally and utterly underwhelmed by the number of big names – CMJ is all about breaking new artists, after all – but I did immediately raise my eyebrows at two of those listed: the Slits and Blue Cheer. Fans of ’70s punk and ’60s garage rock are twitching with glee…

The panelists this year, however, are the real cause for celebration, if only for their diversity. Names include Chris Stein (Blondie), Pat DiNizio (the Smithereens), Janeane Garofalo, George Clinton (Parliament Funkadelic), Roger O’Donnell (the Cure), Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big), and…wait for it…Don fucking DOKKEN, baby!

“Nigel Tufnel? Never heard of him.”
