Road Warriors 30

The Young Wild Things Tour kicks off October 18 in Columbus, Ohio and features kid hero bands Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes, Plain White T’s and Cute Is What We Aim For. It’s a 34-date tour that winds up on Las Vegas on December 2.

Alt rocker chick PJ Harvey has announced two exclusive US performances in New York (October 10 at Beacon Theatre) and Los Angeles (October 15 at Orpheum). Harvey’s new album, White Chalk, is due out on September 25. No other US dates are confirmed yet.

Their live show has been called “riveting,” and now the Decemberists are back with their “Long and Short of It Tour” that starts October 28 in Chicago. Road Warriors 27

The Teen Choice Awards on FOX will feature performances by Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavgine, among others. The show airs August 26, and others participating or performing include Zac Efron, America Ferrera, Eve, Bow Wow, The Rock, Omarion, Ryan Reynolds, the Jonas Brothers, Rob & Big, and Sum 41.

Two fresh faces on the singer/songwriter circuit will be touring together – John McLaughlin and Sara Bareilles. The tour starts August 27 in Seattle and runs through September 28 in South Bend, Indiana.

The new Nokia Theatre LA Live (7100 seat capacity) will open in October with shows by the Eagles and The Dixie Chicks, October 18 and 20, respectively. For both acts, these are their only U.S. shows for 2007.

The second annual Summer Strummer Festival in Santa Monica, California is set for September 2 and has just added a fourth acoustic stage. The new stage will feature performances by Mozella, Curt Phillips, John Nielson, Ambrose, Manda, Ari Shine, Stephanie Quayle and more. A free summer concert series is being put on by Samsung, called the Samsung/AT&T Summer Krush Tour, which will feature kiosks showing off the newest in cell phone technology. The musical lineup isn’t too shabby either, as Queens of the Stone Age, The Bravery and Plain White T’s are all participating. The shows begin August 13 in Los Angeles. British singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse seems to be everywhere lately. She’s going to be at the iTunes Festival in London on July 25 and fans are being given the chance to win tickets on her website at www.amywinehouse.co.uk. Winehouse is also playing Lollapalooza August 3 in Chicago.

Country music superstar Keith Urban had to cancel some upcoming tour dates in Europe due to international commitments. Word has it he’s being pressured by his label to step up writing for his next album, and also he’s been asked to write the “theme song” to his wife Nicole Kidman’s new movie called Australia.

Macy Gray is heading out on tour with Brand New Heavies in support of her latest album, Big. Predictably, the tour is being labeled as the “Big and Heavy” tour. The tour kicks off August 14 in Fort Lauderdale and runs through August 26 in Hollywood.

The ESPY Awards, which will air July 15 on ESPN, intends to feature musical performances by Common, Macy Gray and Rocco Deluca. The show will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and LeBron James.

Rumors are rampant about a Spice Girls reunion, and E! Online Planet Gossip is now reporting that a reunion could turn into a six-month run in Las Vegas. Stay tuned….

Christina Aguilera’s tour kicked off this past week in Japan, and she will continue touring in support of the Back To Basics album throughout Korea, China, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand, with the tour wrapping up August 3.

The annual Street Scene Festival is set for September 22 in San Diego, and the lineup includes many buzz bands such as The Killers, Panic! At the Disco, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Social Distortion, and The Academy Is. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.

Kelly Clarkson’s tour was postponed last week, the same week she fired her manager. While no replacement dates have been scheduled, word is that American Idol has offered Clarkson a guest spot on their summer tour featuring Season 6 finalists.
