it’s the Virgin Festival.

Based on the annual festival of the same name in the UK, this version will be held on September 23rd at the Pimlico Race Course (home of the Preakness Stakes) and is being handled by promoter Seth Hurwitz, who books for Merriweather Post Pavilion as well as Washington, DC’s famed 9:30 Club.

Currently listed for the show’s line-up are the Who (okay, the Two, since it’s only Daltrey and Townshend these days), the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Killers, Gnarls Barkley, the Flaming Lips, the Raconteurs, Keane, Scissor Sisters, Thievery Corporation, New Pornographers, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Wolfmother, Drive-By Truckers, Kasabian, and others yet to be announced. It’s really quite a “Who’s Who” of today’s modern rock, plus one of the bands who helped influence probably half the artists on the bill.

Tickets are $95…plus the inevitable service charge, of course…but, hell, with a line-up like that, who’s going to argue with the pricetag?
