After a battle with lung cancer, Hilly Kristal, founder of CBGB’s, has died. After 33 years, CBGB’s closed last year, its final show featuring Patti Smith. The club was founded in 1973 and became a haven for punk and new wave acts.

What do you for a singer who might possibly, but probably not soon, if at all, hit rock bottom due to drugs and drinking? Why, you boycott their products, naturally! At least, that’s what Amy Winehouse’s father-in-law is instructing everyone to do.
“Perhaps it is time to stop buying records,” Fielder-Civil said. “It’s a possibility, to send that message,” said Giles Fielder-Civil (wow, what a name). However, Winehouse’s own father said it would do no good and when she and her hubby hit rock bottom, then they may have a change of heart. Or wind up dead.

Hey, what’s going on in that Phil Spector murder trial? Who knows? We do know that Phil’s lead lawyer, Bruce Cutler has decided to leave the case, due to disagreements over the defense strategy. D.A. Roger Rosen has filled Cutler’s shoes. Now get on with that trial and figure something out, as no one really seems to be paying much attention to it. Perhaps a new hair style from Phil would get us all interested again.
