Hi, I read ESDMusic and I get stoopid

Hey, too many jackasses reading my posts! Looks like some dude perchance caught wind of Pete Townshend complaining about how listening to music on headphones can lead to hearing loss (brought to you HERE by ME – I’m taking credit for inspiring the following idiotic story) has decided to sue Apple, alleging that the iPod can cause hearing loss. Get outside much, sir? Do you really think you’re going to get some money? Go out and get a job and MAKE MONEY THE AMERICAN WAY!!!! Oh wait. That is the American way. Hot cha!

Give your mp3 player some good drugs

Some of ye might be well aware of this site, but for those who aren’t in the know, you can literally spend hours getting lost in the mp3 section of WFMU’s Beware of the Blog site (as well as the site in general). Tons and tons of oddball mp3s, rare albums shared in their entirety, and lots more. If you’re looking for those really different things to hear, this is a great place to waste your days as well as fill up those iPods with all sorts of kooky things to enjoy. There are even links in there for WFMU podcasts if you want even more. This is what the Internet was made for, folks.

A rock and roll casino in Vegas? What an original idea!

Apparently having never heard of an obscure organization called the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, and having overlooked that enormous neon guitar just off the Las Vegas Strip, Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner plans to develop a hotel, casino and music venue with a rock & roll theme.

The Rolling Stone Hotel and Casino, scheduled for completion by 2008, will not only compete directly with the more established Hard Rock for guests, gamblers, and music acts…it will also sit right smack in the same neighborhood as its primary competitor.

Now, it’s not that Vegas ain’t big enough for two music-themed casinos. Lord knows, there are plenty of music acts in Vegas–including several that probably couldn’t earn a living anywhere else.

But at least the House of Blues had the good sense to set up shop at Mandalay Bay, at the far end of the strip from the Hard Rock…not just a (rolling) stone’s throw from its nemesis.

A sunken ship aboard a sinking one

Oh, that Britney! She’s going back to her roots, you know. Yes, fans, Britney Spears will be on an upcoming episode of “Will and Grace.”She’ll be playing a conservative Christian talk show host. I haven’t watched that show since probably its second season and I never cared for Britney, so here’s one dude who won’t be tuning in. I am sure, however, that this will be the first step in many of Brit’s new career now that she has a kid. Wasn’t taking care of K-Fed enough to begin with? As a side note, I befriended K-Fed on MySpace, but after leaving a comment on his profile saying that “no one’s gonna buy yer rekkid,” he promptly dumped me. That dude has over 20,000 friends on there. Jesus, can you imagine having to make up that many phony accounts?

Didn’t Tortelvis already do this?

Perhaps you kids remember the great band Dread Zeppelin who mixed Zep covers up with a splash of reggae and fronted by the great Elvis impersonator Tortelvis. If not, go look them up, it’s a grand time, indeed (they’re still around, too). Boy howdy then that another group has decided to mine the Zeppelin gold. This time around it’s a group called Lez Zeppelin, and they’re ready to rock you all over. I say this is a crap idea. Not for any other reason than the fact that we don’t need another Zeppelin tribute group when Dread Zeppelin was the epitome of that niche already. Plus, Dread had the whole Elvis/reggae twist to the songs. This is just going to sound like another Zep cover band, and when it comes to those, I’ll just stick with the original item, thank you very much.
