Here’s a great photo of Sting as he performs at the Fillmore in Miami Beach this past weekend. Sting has had quite a year as he turned 60 this year and had quite a party to celebrate it. he continues to tour and put out great music.
Sting is also another great reminder of the great music we’ve all enjoyed for decades coming out of Britain. The music scene is still thriving and many travelers to the UK still have music as one of the primary draws, whether it relates to music history and tracking down the iconic stomping grounds of classic British performers or hitting the bars and pubs to check out the new sounds. Whether you prefer the British Invasion bands of the 60s, the punk rockers of the 80s or recent British stars like Amy Winehouse, the sounds coming out of England have drawn fans for generations.
If you’re planning a trip, do your research and figure out what you want to see and then plan accordingly. Of course you can make your trip so much more than a rock pilgrimage. You might decide to look for cheap hotels in Liverpool because you love the Beatles and you’re a soccer fanatic. Talk about killing two birds with one stone! If you’re into golf you’ll want to treck up to Scotland and maybe use the Glasgow hotels as your home base as you tour the golf course up there.
The key is planning a trip that let’s you enjoy all that the UK has to offer. Hopefully you’ll come back with memories of some of the new English artists that will influence our music in coming generations.
