Well, we know there won’t be a wardrobe malfunction during the halftime performance for Super Bowl 42. Well, at least we hope not. Legendary American rock band Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers will be playing the event, which takes place February 3 in Phoenix. While we’re on the subject of big events, Plain White T’s have been announced as a performer at Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve show on December 31. The band will also be performing in Boston on January 14 before heading to the UK for some tour dates. Florida rock band Yellowcard had to cancel some tour dates in Europe due to band member Longineu W. Parson’s grandmother’s illness. Parsons is very close to his ailing grandma, who raised him. Tickets are fully refundable but the shows are expected to be rescheduled. Rockers Three Days Grace are hitting the road for a US tour beginning February 15 in Lowell, Massachusetts. Joining them on the tour will be Breaking Benjamin and Seether, and more info is available at www.threedaysgrace.com Another New Year’s Eve show just announced is Velvet Revolver, who will be performing at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. The band is also headlining the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles on December 12 with Alice in Chains, and in February will head to Australia for more shows. Here are all of the confirmed dates: Wed 12/12 Los Angeles, CA Gibson Amphitheatre Deerhunter front man Bradford Cox will hit the road in February in support of his solo project, for which he goes under the name Atlas Sound. He will be touring in support of his debut album, Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel. Label-mates on Kranky Records, Valet and White Rainbow, are supporting. Here are the dates: feb 19: ATLANTA, GA - Drunken Unicorn Hard rockers Saosin continue to tear up the road and will head out again beginning January 21 in Tucson. Co-headlining will be Sire recording artists Armor for Sleep, and supporting the tour are The Bled and Meriwether. Saosin’s self-titled Capitol Records debut has already sold 300,000 copies. Here are the confirmed tour dates so far: 1/21 Tucson, AZ Rialto Theatre MGMT will hit the road this weekend in support of their debut, Oracular Spectacular, along with their pals Fiery Furnaces. MGMT has been named one of Rolling Stone’s “Top Ten Artists To Watch in 2008.” Here are the confirmed shows: Dec 8 Brooklyn, NY - Music Hall of Williamsburg West coast rockers National Product had some shows with Bedlight For Blue Eyes and Kenotia cancelled, but have added a pair of holiday shows instead, December 11 at Chain Reaction in Anaheim and December 14 at The Alley in Las Vegas. Fans who buy a ticket to either of the shows can stop by the band’s merch table and sign up to receive two previously unreleased National Product tracks by e-mail.
